MOTOPAC laser welding packages

The MOTOPAC laser welding packages combine a MOTOMAN robot and a YRC1000 with laser processing equipment such as a galvano scanner head. For the manipulator specifications, grease and battery replacement, follow the pages of the base robot (GP50, GP25); the package manuals do not cover them.

The RL3D1200-GP50 head needs cooling water (1.0 L/min, 0.4 MPa, 27 to 33 °C). It communicates over CAN, and output is controlled by two analog 0 to 10 V channels.

Maintenance

ItemIntervalWhat to do
Protective glassDaily / 1 yearClean and check the transmittance. Replace it if dirt or scratches cannot be removed, if transmittance is below 90 %, or after 1 year of use
Galvano scanner headDailyCheck for collision damage. Replace or repair if transmittance is below 90 % even with a new protective glass
(GP25 version) Galvano scanner driverDailyCheck the condition
Overall appearance / mounting pointsDailyClean / retighten
Robot internal leads and dress cablesDailyCheck for abnormalities (on the GP25 version, also listen for abnormal noise). Replace when abnormal or at the robot overhaul
Fixed cables (analog, safety, CAN, 24 V, etc.)Daily / 1 yearMeasure the analog values every year
Hoses and fittingsDailyCheck for leaks
Robot and head (and driver on the GP25 version)36000 hOverhaul by the YASKAWA service
  • Measure the transmittance with a calibrated power meter.
  • To adjust the tool point, follow the YRC1000 remote laser function manual.
